March 2022

The first pilot interviews are completed, and Rachel preseented at the 2022 RDAP Summit on March 16, 2022.


July 2021

The first draft of the toolkit is now available at https://um-deia-data-toolkit.github.io/home/Toolkit.html; we will shortly be requesting feedback.


April 2021

Emma, Megan, and Rachel will present at the virtual ACRL 2021 conference on April 15, 2021.


Jan-March 2021

We bid Emily farewell at the beginning of the year; Rachel presented on the project so far at the RDAP Summit 2021.


May-Dec 2020

The pandemic shifted our timeline, but we spent the rest of the year working on our data and preparing manuscripts for submission. Chanese departed the team, and we hired a new student team member, Emily Oxford, and welcomed back a previous student member, Emma De Vera.


April 2020

In April, we distributed and collected responses to our survey from th Diversity Scholars Network, as well as other self-identified diversity scholars.


March 2020

In March, we are finalizing the survey in preparation to distribute it to the NCID Diversity Scholars Network. Rachel also presented a lightning talk on the project at the Research Data Access and Preservation (RDAP) 2020 Summit in Santa Fe.


February 2020

Happy Black History Month! This month one of our very own research team members (Chanese Forte) was accepted into the 2020 class of the Edward A. Bouchet Honor Society! This Society honors people who are motivated to the diversification of academia, and is named in honor of Edward A. Bouchet, the first African-American to achieve a PhD in the United States.

This month we are finalizing drafts of the survey to be available to diversity scholars to take and assist in the creation of the UM DEIA Data Toolkit. A new page linked to this survey should be available soon!


January 2020

Happy New Year! We are kicking the year off with creating the survey measure to be sent to diversity scholars.


December 2019

We are wrapping up the last of our 12 interviews and beginning to review the interviews for common themes.


November 2019

This month we are starting our pilot interviews to help inform our survey and toolkit.

This month we are reviewing and organizing interview questions for our pilot interviews.

We recently welcomed our two newest student researchers Chanese and Elyse and said farewell and a huge thank you to Tierra! We are currently compiling a list of researchers at the University of Michigan to recruit for the intiial interviews exploring researcher practices and needs. In parallel, we are also compiling our (IRB) application; we hope to have IRB approval and begin interviews within the next month.
